Shelia hicks as an artists I've known to be associated with textiles. However after researching her more I have learnt much more about the way she constructs her textiles. For example experimental weaving and sculptural textiles.I really admire the way Hicks creates such big and abstract sculptures. She uses a range of raw materials of textiles—wool, synthetic thread and linen flax and constructed them in many different ways which really inspires my to experiment more with the materials I use in my work.Therefore going forward I will try to incorporate a wider range of materials in this project as well as a wider range of techniques. For example I would like to try the knit machine.

My next artist that I investigated into , after seeing his amazing work in class, was Olly Lipp. He is a constructed Textiles and Knitwear Designer. Unfortunately there isn't much about him on the internet yet however whilst looking into his instagram I feel I have gained a good understanding about his work and gained lots of inspiration. Lipp's work is using crochet to incorporate un-convential objects into his work, I feel this is similar to the aims of our current project which is why it interested me so much. His work is really mesmerising and has given me a lot to think about in my own work. Going forward I will continue to follow if journey on instagram and keep up-to-date with his work to continue to gain further inspiration as his work is really something that resonated with me.
